While I was there we headed off to Lismore to check out the Op Shops. Now I've only recently gotten into looking at Op Shops but after visiting Lismore I'm definitely an addict. Had a great time going through all the stuff and found soooo much to buy. I never left an op shop empty handed. I found a great bunch of old linen tea towels that Melissa will be doing something with. A great unfinished demin skirt that has the most beautiful red flowers that I'll be hoping to finish for myself. Lot's of great "Golden Hands" books from the early 70's with great patterns and ideas. I've never been a big 70's fan but this books are a great reminder of how craft was big part of what women did.
My favourite find would have to be an old pink anodised tea pot. I've been looking for and old teapot for ages to display my cosies on. This one is a good size for a good size cuppa. This is the teapot naked.

and this is the teapot dressed in a new cosy I've made.

There will be lots more goodies to preview before the big day - Saturday 6th March - 9am - 2pm. St Augustine's, Racecourse Road, Ascot.
My parents live in Evans head. Love going to visit them. Lol
ReplyDeleteI have been an op shop addict for many years and I recently was encouraged by my husband to share my knowledge and passion by writing a book titled The Op Shoppers Guide to Brisbane and surrounding areas. The book lists over 200 shops in the Brisbane and surrounding areas, including trading hours, parking availability, UBD references, and a special 'Op Till You Drop' section which lists suggested itineraries to get people out and about saving money and visiting unfamiliar territory in search of some unique and interesting finds. More info can be obtained by visiting my website at www.opshoppersguide.com.
